Initialization of the Association Agreement with the European Union is of great importance for our country and particularly, in terms of peaceful conflicts prevention and resolution, says the special statement released by the State Minister office for Reintegration in assessing the results of the Vilnius Summit.

"Initialing the Association Agreement in Vilnius is another step in strengthening our European Choice. This is the future towards which we are striving and which we offer to Abkhazian and Ossetian societies. Georgian government is ready to share all the benefits of the agreements with them, reads the statement of the State Ministers Office.

According to the State Ministers Office, peaceful settlement of the conflicts will be one of the most important issues on the new stage of Georgia-EU cooperation.

Currently, the European Union is a leading international group for conflict resolution in Georgia. In this sense, the EU Monitoring Mission is working in the country since 2008. Also, with co-heading of the EU are Geneva talks ongoing which are based on the six-point agreement facilitated by the European Union. However, the main prerequisite for the European Union engagement remains its non-recognition policy.
