Two people kidnapped from Gali district, Breakaway Abkhazia

Two more incidents of human kidnapping were reported from the Gali district of Breakaway Abkhazia.

Tsiala Lezhava, a resident of the village of Sida, was kidnapped from the village of Khumushkuri. The kidnappers have already contacted her relatives. They demanded 50,000 dollar as a ransom from them.

The other kidnapped person, Gogita Dzandzava, was taken from the village of Baghrebi, Gali district. He was walking along the road, together with his father, when the kidnappers attacked him. They demanded 700,000 Russian ruble as a ransom.

Human kidnapping is a common crime in the breakaway Abkhazia. Though, the most of the cases are not reported as the families prefer to pay the ransom with the help of a go-between in order to keep their kidnapped relatives safe.
