Georgian government foresees Ukraine’s U-turn

Georgian government foresees the Ukraines governmental U-turn which urged a mass rally in defense of a European future for the country. It was the biggest protest since the 2004 pro-Western Orange Revolution.

Deputy Foreign Ministry Davit Zalkaniani believes that the processes the Ukraine faces have to be considered by the Georgian government but it will not influence on Georgias pro-Western course.

"Ukraines U-turn is regrettable and Georgia will consider what has urged the country to refuse the signing of the association agreement with the EU but I believe that the decision will not influence Georgias choice, said Zalkaliani before the the first Minister Cabinet meeting led by PM Irakli Garibashvili.  

According to Deputy Foreign Minister, Georgia will initial the associate agreement with EU at the EaP summit in Vilnius.

Since Sunday, Ukrainian protesters have flooded Kiev and some other big cities to demand signing of the EU deal. The anger was sparked over the governments sudden decision to pull out of the EU agreement and focus instead on trade ties with Russia, due to strong pressure from Moscow.
