The new charter, chairman, political board and secretary general elected at the Georgian Dream Democratic Georgia party congress which was held in the exhibition hall of Expo Georgia today. The congress was attended by the Ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili who delivered his last speech as a politician and left for the civil society.
"I am leaving politics but remain as an active citizen, he addressed some 1500 delegates of the party and government members from the ruling majority that attending the congress. He said that two years ago, he managed to bring democratic forces to power and formed the best ever team.
"Georgia is free of violent regime and state institutions are free of government pressure. Georgia has a President who defends everyones interests; Speaker of the Parliament who is one of the most prominent politicians of our modernity; and Georgia has a Prime Minister who together with the government will revive the country, Ivanishvili said and added thathe will be one of the most active citizens taking control over the government from a civil sector.
"I give you my word that, at least for twenty years, I will spend all my energy, knowledge and experience on revival of my country. I will support any government that will serve people. I will not spare my efforts to ensure that we have developed into a progressive society.This is my Georgian dream: we will be a progressive society of a democratic country. I do believe in it! And finally, I wish success to the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party. Good luck to all of you!" Ivanishvili said.
Ex-Prime Ministers allies assessed Ivanishvilis move of leaving the party and politics as a "premiere in Georgian politics, "great loss for the GD party, "amazing and stunning.
The party congress voted for PM Irakli Garibashvili as the Chairman of the party and Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Energy as the Secretary General. Also, the party has elected members of the political board and reduced their number from 21 to 12 according to the new party charter. The members of the new political board are: Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Energy; Nodar Khaduri, Finance Minister; Irina Imerlishvili, Security Council Secretary; MPs - Griogi Volsky, Manana Kobakhidze, Eka Beselia, David Saganelidze, Tamaz Avdaliani, Irakli Tripolsky, Temur Chkuaseli, Irakli Sesiashvili and Armaz Akhvlediani.
