The draft legislation endorsement gets complicated

After the Presidents Swearing-in Ceremony, Constitutional amendments established in 2011 entered into force. The complicated procedures for the constitutional amendments will be affirmed by the parliaments regulation.

According to the new Constitution, amendments to the constitution requires at least 113 votes (3/4 of MPs), instead of parliaments members 2/3 voting as before.

The increase of quorum is connected with the complication of constitutional drafts approval. In previous years, the constitutional draft legislation endorsement used to take two weeks. Nowadays this period increased for three months.

According to the initiated project, the constitutional amendments draft legislation should be proposed twice during the session. Then it should be affirmed at the next session with the three-month interval.

The parliamentarian majority, coalition "Georgian dream had an initiation to ignore these complications about the draft legislation. However, the minority United National Movement opposed it.
