Georgian President meets with sculptor Zurab Tsereteli

The new Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met with the prominent Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli and vice-president of Russian Academy of Art Oleg Koshkin.

The head of Georgian Tourism Administration, Giorgi Sigua, Presidents adviser for Foreign Affairs, Vano Machavariani and the chief of Presidents administration Lasha Abashidze also attended this meeting.

Zurab Tsereteli lives in Moscow and was the rector of the Moscow Art Academy. He arrived in Georgia to present the statue of famous Georgian actor Ramaz Chkhikvadze in Tbilisi, which was a gift to Georgian citizens. This is the sixth monument in the capital of Georgia, sculptured by Zurab Tsereteli.

In 2002, Tsereteli gifted to the US citizens his 10 story sculpture "The Tear Drop Memorial as an official gift of the Russian government, dedicated to the victims of the September 11 attacks.
