Georgian economy and investment environment were the main issues discussed after upcoming Prime Minister and acting Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili presented his governmental program at Parliament, today.

According to Garibashvili, one of the major foreign companies investing in Georgia was about to leave the country because of the bad investment environment during the previous governments period, but the new government managed to keep it here.

"This company put investment of 200-300 million in Georgia, but they had a huge loss because of your unfavorable conditions, Garibashvili told the parliamentary minority. "We fixed for them all the problems that your government created. In several days, the company owner is going to make a statement confirming that he truly had problems and was going to leave the country.

According to Garibashvili, the police detained the representatives of the construction company that built the new parliament building in Kutaisi, West Georgia. The upcoming PM said that the total sum spent on constructing was 340 million GEL, out of which tens of millions has been misappropriated.

PM-designate Irakli Garibahsvili was asked about the concrete steps his government is going to make in order to achieve economic growth in the country. Garibashvili admitted that the country had a small economic decline, "but nothing tragic was in it, he said.

"I dont want to talk about the past but let me remind you that your government also had economic problems, which you were trying to solve by getting international debts, speaking to the United National Movement members.

As Garibahsvili explained, the economic decline was caused by the unstable political situation during the last year. "When the President is the countrys main oppositional figure, and when practically, there are two governments in the country, how can you ensure an investor to invest there? Gariashvili said.

Georgian Dream party member Manana Kobakhidze asked upcoming PM whether he sees a need for reform at the Prosecutor office or not.

"We will have a real progressive team at the Chief Prosecutors office. All the structures need to be slightly reformed, of course. And most importantly, the prosecutor needs to be depoliticized. We have already achieved this goal at the ministries, Garibahsvili said.

One other question for the upcoming PM was about the illegal migrants. According to Garibashvili, there will be a migration department created at the Interior Ministry. It will control illegal migration issues all over the country.

Parliament member Guguli Maghradze asked Garibahsvili how the government is going to motivate citizens to start small and medium businesses. Garibahsvili said that unemployment remains as one of the biggest challenges for the country, so the government is going to spend 150 million GEL on small and medium businesses during the next two years.
