President Margvelashvili holds meetings after inauguration

The foreign policy of Georgia, European integration, and bilateral affairs were discussed between the new President Giorgi Margvelashvili and a delegation of nine countries in the framework of inauguration.

Margvelashvili met with James Appathurai, the NATO Secretary Generals Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, after the latter held talks with the Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze and the Minister of Defense, Irakli Alasania.

James Appathurai underlined, the major priority of Georgias government should be the North Atlantic Integration.

Margvelashvili talked about Georgias European Integration with the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and with the President of Federal Council of Austrian Parliament, Reinhard Todt. Todt discussed the important role of the Austrias Development Agency representatives functioning for Georgia.

"I am very glad to be in Georgia, said Dalia Grybauskaite, President of Lithuania. "It was my first official meeting with the new Georgian President. Lithuania is a chair country of the EU and for me, democratic processes in Georgia is very important and charged. This is very significant for Georgia to get closer to the EU. I want to affirm again that I invite the Georgian President to the Vilnius summit.

After the consultation with Lithuanian President, Giorgi Margvelashvili held meetings with the Azerbaijan Prime minister Artur Rasizade. The leaders talked about the collaborations in the economic, political, and humanitarian fields with each other.

Giorgi Margvelashvili also met with the Georgias major strategic partner from the US delegation, headed by Rajiv Shah, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

"Today, during the bilateral meeting, we emphasized that the US President Barack Obama and the Secretary of State John Kerry establish a priority to develop strategic partnership with Georgia. stated Rajiv Shah.

The new President also met with the OSCE Secretary General, Lamberto Zannier; Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Oleksandr Vilkul; Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean: Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yerbol Orynbayev, and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev.
