The United States will implement a five-year $180 million USAID program and a $140 million Millennium Challenge Corporation second compact in Georgia. Rajiv Shah, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), who headed the U.S. delegation to the Georgian Presidential inauguration, made this statement.
USAID Administrator congratulated President Giorgi Margvelashvili on his inauguration and expressed his hopes of continuing close, constructive, and deep cooperation with Georgia.
Rajiv Shah highlighted Georgias peaceful political transition and ongoing democratic reform. He said it is truly a role model for the region.
"The transformation which we have seen in Georgia over this period is remarkable, and I am proud that the U.S. Government played an important role through our combined diplomatic, development, and defense assistance, Head of the U.S. delegation said.
