President pledged diplomats to maintain EU and NATO integration

President Giorgi Margvelashvili assured the foreign delegation members that the international society has a faithful and reliable partner in the name of Georgia, at the lunch reception after the inauguration ceremony at the courtyard of the old Parliament building.

In his speech with 50 foreign delegations, Margvelashvili pledged to maintain its commitment to NATO and EU integration and to further deepen the dialogue with Russia.

"Despite the difficult situation we are facing today and in parallel with integrating into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, we reiterate our commitment for further dialogue with Russia and build confidence to solve the problems existing today, Margvelashvili said.

New President believes that it is not an easy path for Georgia to maintain strong pace on its path to integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic family.

"We went through the most devastating year, 2008. Parts of our territories are still occupied, and hundreds of thousands of refugees are still waiting to return to their homes.Nonetheless, it should be noted that the Georgia nation has never doubted its choice, he added.

On behalf of the Georgian people, Margvelashvili thanked the diplomats for their strong support of Georgias territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"Friends and strategic partners are the greatest treasures of our people. Amid the modern global world, our countries face the most difficult challenges and, at the same time, prospects for development. This is why cooperation is needed today as never before. We must overcome these problems together and make development come true in unity, President noted.
