Swedish and Polish Foreign Ministers, Carl Bildt and Radoslaw Sikorski said after meeting with Georgian Prime-Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili in Tbilisi on 23 October that Georgia will initial the association agreement with European Union at Vilnius Summit.
Speaking at a joint news conference, Bildt said that EU will observe the processes in Georgia so the country will not to repeat the mistakes that have been done by Ukraine.
"The Vilnius summit opens up the new chapter in the development of your country, particularly of economy. The signature, implementation, and then the ratification of the association agreement with EU is upon you. We are here as the friends of Georgia which will continue the cooperation in the future, Bildt said.
Polish Foreign Minister also expressed his confidence that Georgia would initial the Association Agreement in Vilnius at the end of next month and if that happens, Georgia could sign that agreement next year.
"I completely agree with the Prime Minister when he says that the country needs to be united, that vendettas are not part of the European society. he said.
The Eastern Partnership was originally a Polish-Swedish initiative in 2009 to provide the EUs eastern neighbors with an opportunity to establish closer relations to the EU. The Foreign Ministers arrived in Tbilisi late on Tuesday evening as part of their trip which also included Moldova and Ukraine.
