Turkey and Georgia to establish joint control customs

Turkey and Georgia will organize the first control of customs checkpoints according to the adviser of the Turkish Ministry of Customs and Trade, Ziya Altun Yaldiz.

The joint management of the border checkpoint at the village of Sarpi, crossing between Turkey and Georgia will launch operation in 2014.

According to Turkish media, the Georgian and Turkish sides discussed issues of joint management of customs checkpoints and related technical protocols this November.

Attention was paid to the efficient work of the customs checkpoints on the Georgian-Turkish border, as well as the factors that hinder the well-functioning of these checkpoints.

The sides agreed to actively cooperate on matters of mutual recognition of authorized economic operators and the development of new mechanisms for information exchange.
