Agriculture Cooperative Development Agency, a governmental body under the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), mandated to grant status and monitor compliance of the cooperatives with the new law launched operation.
Agriculture cooperative, an entity with this status will become eligible for special government support programs, such as tax concessions, access to finance and extension services.
The Parliament of Georgia adopted the Law on Agricultural Cooperatives in July 2013 that defined the status of an agricultural cooperative and the basic principles and rules regarding its formation, membership and management.
