Georgia Implements New Ways to Control Nonviolent Crime

People accused of a White-collar crimes will soon be controlled by using electronic tracking bracelets. General Procurator Archil Kbilashvili says that this innovation will liberalize Georgian legislation.

"Its a good way to avoid detention whenever it is possible and at the same time, properly control the people who are revealed, Kbilashvili said.

White-collar crimeis when a financially motivated nonviolent crime iscommitted for illegal monetary gain. Having the electronic bracelets, to control accused people, will let the court stop the use of pre-trail detention as a preventative measure for this kind of cases.

For the first six months, the program will be tested and will only be implemented in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi.
