For the first time in history of independent Georgia, a Georgian delegation from the Minister of Defense participated in a fire ceremony for fallen soldiers in Paris across the Triumphal Arch, on November 8.
"It is very important day for us, said the Georgian Brigadier General, Vakhtang Kapanadze. "The Georgian delegation, which consists of the representatives of Georgian Minister of Defense and armed forces, participated in the very special event in France. This is a perfect example of how the French people appreciate war veterans and those who died in the war.
In the framework of the official visit in France, Georgian Minister of Defense, Irakli Alasania held meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian and Eric Fournier, the Director of Continental Europe Department of the French Foreign Ministry. The leaders talked about the bilateral military relationships and Georgias integration in NATO.
Alasania also presented his plans for reforms in military field to Eric Fournier.
