On November 6-10th, the 4th annual Russian Film Festival is held in Georgia. The festival is organized by the International Fund of Art and Intercultural Relations and Production Center "Kinoprocess.
This year, festival participants include famous Russian directors, actors, producers, and critics. Dmitri Astrakhan, Andrey and Avdotya Smirnovs, Valery Todorovsky and Yuri Kolokolnikov are among the members of the delegation visiting Georgia. In addition, eminent Russian Director Andrei Tarkovskys son, Alexei Tarkovsky is attending the event as a special guest.
The Festival held at the Rustaveli Cinema presents fiction films, documentaries, and experimental works of contemporary Russian cinema.This year, much focus is paid to works of young filmmakers, as well as documentaries and animations.
Screenings began with a movie "Paradjanov directed by Lena Fetisova and starring Serge Avedekian as a widely acclaimed Georigan-Armenian film director Sergei Paradjanov.
This years schedule is comprised of a traditional section "retrospective, which shows films by Andrey and Avdotya Smirnovs. Special screening of a film by Dmitri Astrakhan "Izydi! was dedicated to the memory of Georgian Actor Otar Megvinetukhutsesi.
For the first time in Georgia, the festival also hosts an "Industrial Forum, which aims to establish favorable contacts between Russian and Georgian counterparts.
"The event aims to once again show the wide variety of opportunities that art and intercultural dialogue can bring. says the director of the festival Mako Jaoshvili.
President of the festival is a famous Russian Director Eldar Ryazanov.
The official closing ceremony will be held on November 11, on which the winner of a prize for special contribution in cinematography will be announced.
