The Georgian Minister of Defense takes part in the NATO Defense Ministerial in Brussels. Within the frames of the Ministerial, Irakli Alasania is meeting with his foreign colleagues. Today Alasania met with the Portuguese Minister of National Defense, Jose Pedro Aguair Branco.
The sides focused on bilateral cooperation for defense and military education. The Portuguese side also expressed an interest in military-technical collaboration with Georgia. Ministers also highlighted the importance of the upcoming London and Vilnius summits.
"We discussed Georgias NATO integration prospects. Portugal strongly supports our country on the way towards NATO. Every representative, that I held meetings with, outlined that the next summit will have a positive outcome for Georgia and one more step forward will be made for Georgia's NATO integration process. We also talked about the further operations in Afghanistan and referred to the cooperation we will have with NATO member countries within this format stated Georgian Defense Minister.
Tomorrow Irakli Alasania will hold meetings with defense Ministers of Albania and Romania.
