Georgian Ministry of Justice presented project on labor codes changes on October 22nd at Courtyard Marriot in Tbilisi.
These amendments basically include improvement of womens labor rights and supports to eliminate labor discrimination against women. The project is for the reduction of working hours, regulation of part-time jobs, consent to work overtime, and increasing of free time for pregnant women and breast feeding mothers.
According to the Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani, this reform actually aims to equalize womens and men's labor conditions, salary, and social guarantees.
"This is the second round of labor codes amendments and it is focused on gender equality in Georgia. We all are involved in this process. And we long to make maternity leaves much better, which means prohibition of contract cancellation during the year for mothers. " Tea Tsulukiani said.
