Georgian ‘Prince’ baptized in Svetitskhoveli Church

Mtskheta, the historical capital of Georgia was crowded for an unusual reason today. People were celebrating the baptism of the Prince of Georgia, Giorgi Bagrationi.  

The Georgian Royal Family heir, son of Ana Bagration-Gruzinsky and Davit Bagration-Mukhraneli was baptized in the Svetitskhoveli temple.

The ceremony was held by the Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II and the event was attended by public figures and representatives of government.

Prince Giorgi has 4 Godparents, including Georgian businessman Levan Vasadze, who is well known for his conservative ideas.

"Today we created a solid foundation for the restoration of Constitutional Monarchy. Vasadze commented. "It is a great privilege to be here today as a Godfather of Prince Giorgi.

Giorgis Parents are the descendants of two Georgian royal names Bagration-Gruzinsky and Bagration-Mukraneli.

After the occupation of Georgia by Bolshevik Russia, Bagrations were obliged to immigrate to Europe. Currently, the royal family lives in Madrid where Prince Giorgi was born on September 27, 2011.
