Forbes magazine has published an article on 25-year-old Georgian winemaker Baia Abuladze and put her family business ‘Baia Wines’ on the Forbes' 2019 30 Under 30 Europe List.
The magazine says that their ‘organic, biodynamic wine’ is available at the world's finest restaurants like Hitimisu in Washington, D.C. and a bottle costs about $26.
Baia Wines has been classified in the Art & Culture category of the list. The magazine says the honorees “are the best in the world because in their success and through their creativity they champion originality and goodness.”
Chloe Sorvino, the author, refers to Baia’s home village of Obcha, as well as the winemaking method: “The juice ferments inside traditional clay pots buried into the ground, called qvevri. Little is added over the next several months as the juice transforms into wine.”
The article reads that the process results in Baia’s Wine and provides brief information on the young winemaker: “Baia Abuladze, a fourth-generation winemaker who grew up on the family farm, attended college in Tbilisi and started making her own wine just four years ago.”
