British professional wine educator and consultant Sarah Abbott dedicated a long story to the Georgian wine, saying she was captivated not only by the quality of Georgia’s wines, but how much wine is part of Georgian culture.
In the story the Master of Wine tells the history of the Georgian wine, makes special emphases on the uniqueness of the Qvevri wine.
I have never seen a country that identifies itself with its wine as much as Georgia,” she says.

She claims 2016 was the best year ever for Georgian wine exports to the UK, stressing Georgian wines are being imported by specialist on-trade suppliers such as Clark Foyster, as well as by a Eastern European specialists such as Turton Wines, and Georgian Wine Club.
Abbott says the biggest challenge for the Georgian wine now is that so few people know where Georgia is and many mix the country with the US state of Georgia.
But other than that, Georgia is in a fantastic position. The wine potential is huge and is increasingly being met,” she says.
Abbott also describes Georgian regions and their wine traditions.
She also names the wines which can be liked best by the UK consumers.
