For five days at the beginning of the business year, 2014, more than 4,700 exhibitors showed their new products and innovations for the coming season to 144,000 trade visitors from over 160 countries.
In six exhibition halls, almost 1,600 selected companies experienced in the export business offer a wide range of products for the volume business.
With the ‘Passage’ sourcing platform, Ambiente provides a market place where suitable contacts can be sought and orders placed directly with the manufacturers”, says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente / Tendence.
The United States of America will be presented this year to trade visitors as the Partner Country of the world’s leading trade fair for consumer goods.
But Ambiente is not only for business.
Finding and awarding the young talents and the smartest products are also the important part of this big event.
Solutions 2015
The special exhibition Solutions presents 22 clever products at Ambiente 2015.
"With products from over 4,700 exhibitors, the spectrum to be seen at Ambiente is huge. The Solutions exhibition shows visitors and, therefore, the international retail trade, a selection of extraordinary product solutions with the potential to become sales hits with consumers, thanks to their clear and convincing functionality”, says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence.
From the numerous products submitted by Ambiente exhibitors, the curator of the section London based designer Sebastian Bergne has chosen, for example, the ‘Eco-Cake Box Total Solution’ , the smart cake box has perforation lines and embossing so it can be torn apart to create useful implements – plates, forks and spoon – thus making additional disposal utensils unnecessary for picnics.
Sebastian Bergne explains: "This year, we have redesigned the Solutions special show so it is more domestic and less like a works laboratory. The exhibition is set in a warm and natural environment with high-tech associations, much as our life at home will be in the future”.

Design Plus: award for the innovation
Design Plus is the prestigious award which praises the products for their excellent handling, sustainability and innovative technology.
Design Plus Award 2015 distinguishes 22 products and product ranges by 14 companies from eight countries.
Formal elegance, design quality, functionality and sustainability are the criteria used in deciding who is to receive the awards. This year, the accolades go to products whose functions are especially innovative. The international competition pays tribute to the creativity involved in rethinking everyday products and improving the way they function”, says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence.
For example, Amefa Stahlwaren GmbH is offering an innovative solution in the Table and Kitchen products segment for people with restricted hand motor control. The ‘Integrale’ cutlery set was developed with a great deal of sensitivity by the designer Isabel Heubl after she had studied a wide variety of symptoms and the overall problems involved in geriatrics. Their external aesthetic appeal and proven functionality meets all the conditions that enable people with motor control problems to take their meals independently and without any problems.

Its sponsors are Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung – Frankfurt) and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammertag – Berlin).
Ambiente Talents 2015
34 participants from 15 countries will present their ideas, designs and finished products to the trade-fair public. The selected university graduates, young designers and design studios have been given one of the much sought-after stands in the Talents area.
To enable good ideas to be transformed into successful products, Messe Frankfurt has been helping young designers along the road to a successful career with its Talents format ever since 2001.
Each of the promising Talents receives their own stand, including infrastructure, free of charge and can in this way present themselves to thousands of international visitors and make new contacts.

Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence, is convinced by the concept behind the promotional programme: "With us, Talents is located directly in the design-oriented premium environment of the respective product segment. This will enable young designers to accept orders directly on the one hand, and to find producers for their designs on the other. From our follow-up survey, we know that it actually works for approximately one half of the Talents. This is a fantastic success rate.”
