New Eastern Outlook: “Is Misha Saakashvili Planning to Come Back as an NGO?”

Georgia’s ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili was summoned to be questioned as a witness in relation to ten cases by the Georgian Prosecution, including the possible murder of former Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania in 2005.

But he refused to make "Putin’s dreams come true” by returning to Georgia for questioning. The issue of interrogating former high officials highlighted by Henry Kamens, an expert in the Central Asia and Caucasus region, in his column published in the New Eastern Outlook online magazine edition on April 1.

Kamens underlined the fact that if Saakashvili responded to the investigation, it would be a favorable opportunity for him to demonstrate his innocence relating to any charges.

It is obvious that Europe is only too aware of all the evidence against Saakashvili, and probably a lot more than the public will ever see, as diplomatic and security channels have their own trusted sources. Why else would it scream "persecution” when he has only been asked to answer questions?
