Attendance of Russian "officials” at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and Georgia’s possible protest on it was highlighted in Kevin Johnson’s article published on USA Today’s website on January 31.

Ongoing territorial disputes between Georgia and Russia, recognition of independence of Georgia’s breakaway region Abkhazia and South Ossetia and Georgia’s participation in the Sochi Olympic Games were emphasized in the article, which is based on an interview with Archil Gegeshidze, the Georgian Ambassador to the United States.

The nation of Georgia is reserving the option of withdrawing its small Olympic team from the upcoming Sochi Winter Games, if Russian officials "formally'' attempt to recognize the legitimacy of two break-away Georgian republics.|/
