After the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Georgia will continue flights to Sochi. Based on information from news agency Associated Press, news was published on the Washington Post website on February 4.

Regular flights between Georgia and Russia have been interrupted since the brief war between Georgia and Russia in August 2008. There were no flights to Sochi from Georgia before the fighting.

The Sochi Games have touched a nerve in Georgia, a small nation in the Caucasus Mountains bordering Russia. Many in the country remain bitter over the 2008 war, which left two separatist territories outside of Georgia’s control, including Abkhazia, a territory just south of Sochi.|/
