Le Parisien: “Court postponement to consider EXTRADITION application for former Georgian Minister”

The Aix-Provence court of appeal has postponed its consideration of the request for extradition of former Georgian minister to January 30. 

David Kezerashvili was arrested in mid-October in Nice and is being detained at Baumettes Prison in Marseille.

The investigating chamber "Received Tuesday" denounced "a delaying tactic" from Georgia to extend the procedure. Georgia requested to be present at the hearing on January 30. The court will examine the possibility of electronic monitoring, which is what Kezerashvili’s lawyers are pushing for.|/

The request of Georgia to be present at the hearing "is even more unexpected" that the possibility of represented him has opened since the request was made in October 2013 to extradite Kezerashvili. In addition, they believe, Georgia’s application was later than the French justice sought clarification on the extradition request on 5 December.
