Georgia has protested after Russia temporarily expanded its Olympic security zone into the breakaway Georgian territory of Abkhazia, published BBC Europe, January 24.

Russia claimed Sochi Olympic security reasons were behind the creation of a new zone 11km inside Georgia’s breakaway territory Abkhazia, the article investigates. Georgian authority expressed "deep concern” and trusted that it lasted until March 21, when the Olympic Games and Paralympics Games were over.

Russia and Georgia have had no diplomatic relations since their brief war in 2008 over South Ossetia, although economic ties have partially been restored since the change of Government in Georgia in 2012.|/
