Carnegie Europe: “Why the EU needs to help Georgia and Moldova now”

"What can the EU do to maintain Moldova’s and Georgia’s support for the association agreements?” This issue was reviewed on January 16 by Carnegie Group’s Judy Dempsey, who is editor in chief of Strategic Europe.

The benefits of EU membership, Georgia’s relationship with the North neighbor Federation of Russia and country’s domestic issues related in foreign policy are highlighted on the article at Carnegie Europe.

"Free movement can benefit all generations,” author believed.

At the end of the article, Dempsey analysed priorities which should be highlighted by EU, even though it is not late.

EU should give its diplomats on the ground in Moldova and Georgia free rein to reach out. This is not the time to preach to the choir, but to be inclusive. That means talking to and listening to the pro-Russian and anti-  EU political parties and movements. The EU has to make every effort to sell the association agreements before it is too late.|/
