While Russia took possession of Ukraine’s Crimea Peninsula last month Georgia tries to protect its security by gaining "membership action plan” (MAP) at a September summit in the Wales, United Kingdom.
Georgia’s current relation with NATO and its further prospects to join Euro Atlantic structures were highlighted in Helena Bedwell and Henry Meyer article published on the website of Bloomberg’s weekly business magazine Businessweek.
NATO said Georgia must do more work to fully integrate into the Euro-Atlantic Community and the alliance is working with the country of 4.5 million to achieve this. "Every nation has the right to decide its security policy and its alliance affiliation itself,” NATO said in an e-mailed statement.
