Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in China today.
Janelidze spoke about the tourism potential in Georgia saying that for the first time in the country’s history the number of tourists exceeded 6 million in 2016. He said Georgia is a very good example of how tourism can transform a small city into an international destination.
Welcoming the announcement of 2017 as International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development Janelidze said it is important that the countries of the world are simplifying their travelling procedures for travellers.
The event is running from September 11-16 bringing together up to 1,500 delegates from 150 countries across the world.
