Georgian tennis player Ekaterine Gorgodze continued her winning form this year by taking the winner's title of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Womens Circuit tournament that finished on Sunday in Istanbul.
Gorgodze emerged as the winner in the singles ranking of the 15,000 USD prize money competition after defeating Bulgaria's Gebriela Mihaylova in the final 6-3, 6-1.
The 25-year old took the title on her favourite clay surface, with the outdoor ITF event held at the Koza World of Sports tennis club from July 31-August 6.
Earlier this year Gorgodze also celebrated the title in ITF singles tournament in Telavi, Georgia:
With 32 players in the singles draw, Gorgodze progressed through four fixtures before reaching the final against Mihaylova.
Wins against Lithuania's Paulina Bakaite in the first round and local favourite Ebru Zeynep Yazgan in the second round ensured the Georgian progressed through the play-off rounds.
Two more victories against Ena Kajevic of Croatia and Petia Arshinkova of Bulgaria — in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds respectively — paved the way for the Georgian to reach the final.
Gorgodze is currently 444th in the Women's Tennis Association singles ranking, with her career-best 255th coming in 2016 when the athlete celebrated winning the Babolat Cup in Antalya.
This year's singles statistics include 23 wins and nine losses for Gorgodze, with the Georgian player also winning the Telavi singles tournament earlier in the year.
