Canada hosts series of Georgian events

The Canadian city of Toronto is hosting a series of cultural events dedicated to Georgia.

Georgian filmmaker Rusudan Glurjidze’s award-winning feature, House of Others, was shown with the support of the Georgian Embassy to Canada yesterday.

House of Others has received award for Best Cinematography at the recent Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival in Toronto.

Georgia’s Ambassador to Canada, Konstantine Kavtaradze, spoke about Georgia, its past and the heavy situation the people living in the Russian occupied regions of Georgia – Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) - are facing.

A photo exhibition of historic sights in Georgia and a folklore concert was also held as part of the event. Guests were treated with traditional Georgian food and mineral waters.

Georgia and Canada are celebrating their 25th anniversary of diplomatic cooperation this year.
