Georgia’s Summer Set Festival will transform into a hub of entertainment, sports and social workshop events starting next year, as a selection of bands including Cigarettes After Sex and and WhoMadeWho gears up to headline this year’s edition.

At a press conference hosted in Tbilisi earlier today, organisers of the popular festival announced their initiative for turning the event into a major occasion for promoting tourism in mountainous locations of the country.

Starting with its 2019 edition, Summer Set will be hosted in Gudauri, a popular ski and winter destination in Georgia’s north.

Cigarettes After Sex is another act on the 2018 roster at Tbilisi Sea:

Accustomed to hosting locals and foreign travellers during the winter season, the town will now also become a summer host of the celebration of music, sports and holidays.

Organisers announced Gudauri editions of Summer Fest will feature "electronic and experimental” music artists including emerging acts, in addition to up to fixtures in nine different sports and workshops on "social and cultural subjects”.

The announcement also mentioned plans for opening "two stages” and a "tent city” for artists and visitors of the summertime event.

Gidge, a Swedish duo producing and performing electronic music, will be on stage during the July 27 program:

American pop band Cigarettes After Sex, Danish experimental trio WhoMadeWho, Glasgow-based producer Koreless and electronic artist Baikal will play for crowds on July 27 at the hilltop location above the capital city.

They will perform in the roster also including other local and foreign acts, with performances launching at 7pm and scheduled to go into early morning.

Launched in 2012, the Summer Set festival has hosted hundreds of local and international bands and tens of thousands of guests in annual events.
