Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday announced the country’s popular ski resort of Gudauri would host the International Ski and Snowboard Federation's Junior World Championships between April 6-7.
Kobakhidze made the reveal while presenting plans for developments in the tourism industry, where he said the Government would also work towards scheduling more direct flights from different countries.
This will be done consistently and in accordance with a well-thought-out policy, just as it has been done before [...] The Government continues to enhance the quality of tourism infrastructure and services in the country. We have a small, but very diverse and beautiful country. Everything must be done to develop new tourist spots”, he said.
The head of the Government also highlighted other international events planned to be hosted in Georgia, including World Tourism Day and an international forum on business tourism.
Kobakhidze also revealed planned "complex activities" targeting new markets such as China, the United States, India, and other countries in collaboration with the European Union and Persian Gulf countries.
