Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said visa-free travel between Georgia and China was an “important step forward” in the development of bilateral relations, following the official enactment of the deal last week.

The Government Administration cited Kobakhidze as saying the agreement was “very important from the economic point of view”. He also noted the number of direct flights between the two countries had “doubled” since May 30.

Georgian citizens can now travel to China without a visa and stay for 30 consecutive days, while Georgia announced visa-free travel for Chinese citizens in September 2023.

The duration is not subject to extension, except for humanitarian purposes and cases of force majeure.
