Georgia’s visitor attractions were showcased at ITB China, an international tourism fair in Shanghai, on Monday, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said.
Ana Kekelia, the Head of the Brand Development Division at the tourism agency said visa-free travel and direct flights with China “significantly increased” interest in Georgia among visitors from the country, adding her country had a “great potential” to attract “many” of them.
The National Tourism Administration has been participating in exhibitions and fairs in China for many years. However, this year we are presenting for the first time in Shanghai at ITB China”, she said.
The Adjara Tourism and Resorts Department of the western region of the country, Tbilisi City Hall of the capital city, the management organisations of Svaneti and other regional destinations also joined the exhibition in Shanghai.
The fair opened on May 27 to boost global tourism and included more than 1,600 organisations from 80 countries. Up to 10 Georgian private companies also participated.
Visa-free travel between Georgia and China was signed on April 10 and entered into force on Tuesday.
