US European Command “salutes” Georgia’s armed forces on anniversary

The United States European Command on Tuesday “saluted” the “brave men and women of Georgia’s armed forces” on the 33rd anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces.
In a social media post, the US Command said Georgian servicemembers exemplified “courage, dedication and honour” in defending democratic values and fostering cooperation alongside NATO allies and partners.
In its turn, the Mission of Georgia to NATO noted they were “deeply thankful” for the “continuous support and solidarity” from the Alliance, stressing “it is with great pride that our [Georgian] armed forces stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies, committed to protecting our shared values and strengthening our strategic ties”.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday hailed the “heroic past” of the Georgian Defence Forces and memory of servicemembers fallen in conflicts and international missions in comments marking the 33rd anniversary of the country’s armed forces.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday told a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces that “ensuring care” for the armed forces and “appreciating their efforts” was a “priority” for the Government.
Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani on Tuesday said the country’s international partners had made a “great contribution” to the formation of the modern Georgian armed forces, in comments on the 33rd anniversary of the Georgian Defence Forces.
