Georgian Defence Minister, French Ambassador discuss cooperation

Defence cooperation between Georgia and France was discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani and Sheraz Gasri, the French Ambassador to the country.

Chikovani thanked the “strategic partner” state for practical and political support and noted its “significant contribution” to the development of the capabilities of the Georgian Defence Forces, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.

The meeting focused on the contribution of France within the framework of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package and the European Peace Facility.

The officials discussed directions envisaged by the 2024 bilateral military cooperation plan, and expressed their hope the “successful” cooperation would continue.
