Georgia 27th in world, in Europe's top 10 for freedom from gov’t attacks on judicial justice

Georgia ranks 27th in the world, ninth in Europe and in the top three in the post-Soviet space in terms of freedom from government attacks on judicial justice in the latest index by Varieties of Democracy, an institution studying the qualities of governments.

Georgia ranks 27th in the world, ninth in Europe and in the top three in the post-Soviet space in terms of freedom from government attacks on judicial justice in the latest index by Varieties of Democracy, an institution studying the qualities of governments.

In the ranking, Georgia is ahead of 21 European Union states and all membership candidate countries.

The country has improved its position by 69 places since 2012.

The index comes from the organisation based at the department of political science at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

The project for the ranking is led by investigators, project managers, regional managers, over 134 coordinators and about 4,000 experts worldwide.
