Finance Ministry investigators arrest two, seize $48,507 in undeclared gold items

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Tuesday said its professionals had arrested two individuals, in separate cases, for attempting to smuggle a “particularly large quantity” of gold items into the country.
 

The Service said its investigation had found one of  the offenders attempted to illegally carry 706 grams of gold items, concealed in a compartment of a vehicle driven by them, across the Sarpi border crossing checkpoint with Turkey in the south-west of the country.
 

In the latter violation, the accused individual tried to smuggle 507 grams of gold objects concealed in a compartment of a vehicle.
