The Georgian national rugby team defeated Spain in the third-round match of the 2023 Rugby Europe Championship on Saturday in an away game in Spain’s northern city of Torrelavega.

The national team, coached by Levan Maisashvili, claimed the victory with the final score of 41:3, following seven tries, including two tries by Akaki Tabutsadze and one by Beka Gigashvili, Tedo Abzhandadze, and Merab Sharikadze, as well as Alexander Todua and Davit Niniashvili. Luka Matkava also contributed with an accurate conversion kick.
The Lelos have taken first place in the group and won the right to host the semi-final in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and are in the 13th position by overtaking Fiji’s place in the world rugby ranking.
