Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said the Government would send the European Union its “detailed” action plan for fulfilling the priorities set out by the European Commission in its recommendation for the country to be granted the EU membership candidate status.

In his comments to the media Kobakhidze stressed “everything” would be done “in the interests of the country, its European integration and rule of law”.

Kobakhidze said meetings were being held with representatives of the non-governmental sector to discuss the priorities, and noted it was “important” to ensure consensus on decisions on their implementation.

The main topic of discussion is the nine priorities outlined by the Commission after its recommendation on the candidate status. Interesting discussions are being held on each topic. There have already been such discussions on two topics”, he said.

Kobakhidze added parliamentary formats and cooperation platforms with NGOs would be created around “specific topics”.
