Georgia’s Deputy Economy Minister Genadi Arveladze on Monday said the country’s Government aimed to strengthen its “long-term and active” cooperation with the United Kingdom.

The Ministry cited Arveladze as saying the UK “fully supported” Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations and continued to support reforms aimed at the country’s integration into the European Union.

It also said a delegation of the country, led by Arveladze, had featured in a presentation and discussion of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the two states at the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements authorised under the World Trade Organisation

The body added the agreement, signed in 2019 to replace Georgia’s Association Agreement with the EU in relations with the UK following Brexit, covered a “wide range” of cooperation and created a legal framework for “strategic partnership” and preservation of free trade between the two countries.
