Georgia’s European integration path is clear, which causes “radical opposition’s disappointment as their destabilisation plan has failed”, Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said on Sunday.

In his comments to the media, Volski noted the radical opposition’s “anti-state plans” could not be carried out, despite their attempts to hinder the process of obtaining the European Union membership candidate status.

People are the source of government. People made the right decision. Since 2012, the [opposition] United National Movement party has not won any elections, and we [the ruling team] have achieved what we have been striving for so long [EU candidacy]”, he added.

The European Commission recommended the European Council to grant Georgia the EU candidate status on November 8. The Council will make the final decision on the country’s candidacy in December.
