Josep Borrell, the European Union High Representative and the Vice President of the European Commission, on Wednesday said the bloc’s door was “open” for Georgia after the European Commission recommended the European Council to grant Georgia its membership candidate status next month.
The Georgian people have shown their unshaken commitment to European values many times.

In his tweet, the official said Georgian citizens had shown their “unshaken commitment to European values many times”, and pledged the bloc would continue its support for Tbilisi on its European integration path.
Georgia officially applied for EU membership in March 2022, shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and was granted a European perspective and a reform agenda to obtain the bloc’s candidacy.
