Georgia’s Interior Ministry on Sunday said its professionals had arrested one individual on charges of human trafficking.
As the investigation established, the detained had developed a human trafficking plan, forcing his wife to beg for money and threatening her with verbal and physical assault.
For additional income, the accused also constrained one person with disabilities to beg for money, fraudulently transporting the victim from Georgia’s capital to the western city of Kutaisi.
In case of their noncompliance with the demands of the detained, the latter physically assaulted the victims.
The crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 12 to 15 years.
