Irakli Shotadze, the Prosecutor General of Georgia, on Tuesday said an individual wanted by Italy under the Interpol Red Circular for participating in an organised crime group had been arrested in Georgia.
In his comments to the media, Shotadze said the alleged offender had been charged with participation in “various serious and especially serious” offences committed in Italy.
He added the person in question had “no accomplices” in crime in Georgia and remained in extradition custody by the request of Italian authorities.
Shotadze said extradition procedures for the alleged offender had been completed, and the extradition would be completed “in the near future”.
