Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday announced the launch of the construction of an accommodation project set to house 1,000 law enforcement officers in capital Tbilisi.
The budget-funded ₾125 million ($50 mln) project, proposed earlier by the PM, will see the police professionals receive flats at “symbolic prices” after the completion of works in about two years.
Garibashvili said Interior Ministry employees would only pay ₾300 ($120) per square metre on flats in the residential blocks located on a six-hectare territory, and added the project would not be a one-off initiative.
Commending the country’s law enforcement agencies and their personnel, the PM highlighted it was his Government’s “obligation to do its utmost” for police employees.
