Georgian State Security Service officials demanded “unconditional release” of Georgian citizens illegally arrested by Russian occupation forces at the 105th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting, the platform facilitating talks between Georgian agencies and the de-facto authorities in the occupied regions of the country.
The IPRM meeting took place in the village of Ergneti close to Georgia's occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region.
The 105th #IPRM took place today in Ergneti. The co-facilitators called for a humanitarian approach to all ongoing detention cases. They also advocated for the conflict-affected population's access to religious sites during upcoming holidays.

Co-facilitators of the meeting, Ambassador Marek Szczygieł, Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Viorel Moşanu, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, expressed their concern over the increased number of illegal arrests in recent weeks and welcomed the use of the EUMM-managed hotline to address the ongoing issues.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed the instances of illegal ‘borderisation’ and the safety of local citizens near the occupation line.
The next IPRM meeting is set to be held on April 12, 2022.
