Support for Ukraine from the Georgian government is a “primary responsibility” and is being expressed “both in word and deed”, the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said on Tuesday.
In an address to the Parliament, Kobakhidze said the government was doing “everything” for its support for the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion of the country.
We see that our friendly people fight for their independence and freedom, and we stand with them,” the GD chairman said.
Kobakhidze also referenced “friendship” between the two nations, highlighting “a very long history” of partnership between them and pointing to “a special emotional connection with the Ukrainians”, adding the suffering of the country “extremely hurts [Georgians]”.
